Amber realized she was meant to be a cosmetologist when she was five years old. Her little three-year old brother was her first victim. Amber says she would cut his hair to the best of her abilities, which at the time, included numerous bald spots that she believed looked fabulous on her little brother. Once she enrolled in beauty school in 2011, Amber quickly realized that this wasn’t the look people desire in a fashionable hairstyle, her brother included.
Her career in cosmetology is her love. Amber’s favorite part of her job is learning new techniques and keeping up with the latest Pinterest trends. She specializes in curly hair as her naturally curly hair has provided her with ample experience. As such, Amber says she likes to educate her clients how to “tame the beast”.
Another specialty of hers is color, which provides the ability to transform and apply her artistic touch to make women and men feel like the best versions of themselves. She especially enjoys the challenge of coloring blondes, because no matter what, every blonde is different.
For Amber, the best part of her career is the ability to make men, women, and children feel and look their best.
Outside of the salon, Amber enjoys spending time with her family. She married her husband in 2015, and they have a beautiful daughter who was born in 2017. When time is on her side, Amber loves to go on road trips, whether it’s a quick trip to Custer or across the country. The open road and good music is her favorite way to unwind and relax.
Amber has a bubbly personality and lighthearted sense of humor that makes everyone around her feel welcome. One visit to her chair and Amber will quickly become one of your favorite people.
What “lesson from mom” do you still live by today?
My mom taught me to live by the Golden Rule to “do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. I always treat others with kindness and respect because that’s how I would like to be treated.
What is your all-time favorite hairstyle?
My favorite hairstyle is the A-line. It is easy to style and take care of, requiring very little work. Plus, it’s fun to shape and cut and it looks good on almost anyone.
Art is anything you can get away with.
