Sarah’s Story

SALON COORDINATOR / RECEPTIONIST

When you call SALON ONE to schedule an appointment, there’s a good chance that you’ll speak to Sarah.  Sarah has been with SALON ONE since 2011.

Growing up, her favorite game was to play “receptionist” so she can easily say that she’s happy to come to work every day.  She’s thankful to her sister-in-law, and colleague, Angela for referring her to a position where she is able to work in an ever-changing, artistic environment.

In her spare time, Sarah enjoys hiking, backpacking, and camping with her family–basically if she’s outside she’s happy.  Besides the Southern Hills where she grew up, Sarah is especially fond of Annie Creek, the Flume Trail, Community Caves, and Spring Creek.  She says that Castle Creek is also a beautiful place to camp.

Reading and writing is another great passion of Sarah’s.  She hopes to have a book published eventually, and she has already had her poetry published in a local magazine.

She’s passionate about writing poetry, SciFi, and children and young adult fiction, while she enjoys reading suspense/horror and SciFi.  Her favorite authors are J.R.R. Tolkien, Charlotte Brontë, and John Green.  Sarah says that she’s amazed at Tolkien’s ability to create such a vast world through the written word, that Brontë pushed the boundaries for women in her time, and that Green’s books are relatable.

Most importantly, Sarah says that her family is the world to her, and being an aunt is the greatest fun she’s ever had.

What is your favorite hobby?

Besides writing, my biggest hobby has been dance.  For nearly 10 years, I studied ballet, tap, jazz, modern, lyrical and other styles of dance.  It shaped me into the woman I am today.

What “lesson from mom” do you still live by today?

Unless they can change it in five seconds (aka someone has food in their teeth) then don’t point out a flaw in someone.  Encouraging self-confidence is so important.

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.
